What is the difference in government legislation, and taking control of some aspect of our personal lives, taking the choice we once had, away from the people and placing in the government knows best isle.

Conservatives understand, every piece of legislation that rolls down hill, is just another piece the government wants to control.
Governmental power, is legislation.

Surprised no one knew the difference in either? or is there a difference.

Is legislation, just another PC word formed long ago to ease the real word... Control.

The legislation I want to see, is legislation to abolish all laws that Federal government has no business being involved in and giving that power back to the individual/States

Legislation has become old hat. The new way is to turn the control over to agencies with non elected officials at the head.

While the EPA sounds like a great agency, the weak spot is the human angle. Control is an inebriating thing. It corrupts.

Legislation, control......power.

Power relegated to someone that doesn't represent the people is dangerous. Especially when that someone has the ability to drastically alter peoples lives, freedom, finances, etc.

Sometimes people don't know what is best for them and they have to be controlled for the good of everybody else in society. As long as your personal life does not cost me money or endanger me, you can do what you wish. I don't care personally if you marry 3 wives, smoke dope all day and drink all night as long as you stay off my roads. But if you are going to smoke and drink, you should have to pay more in medical insurance taxes on that stuff to make up for what you are going to cost other people when you have to be cared for because your liver failed or cancer is eating your organs away.

Control implies that the citizens do not have a choice anymore. Legislation implies no such thing.

For examples, look at the vartious UHCs in the developed world. UHC legisaltion has added the option of using goverment health care facilities where no such option existed previously, while leaving the option to use insurance or cash-based private facilities. Legislation has improved choice and freedom.

For control, look at taxes in most countries. You do not have any other option than paying the taxes decided for you (apart from leaving the country) Taxes have narrowed your choices and freedom.

(In a democracy, the idea is that the taxes then go to pay for stuff that increases your choices and freedoms again, and to a greater degree than you could do personally. How well this works out in practice varies from country to country)

The edicts of ivory tower academics and bureaucrats have been gradually usurping our Constitutionally protected rights and freedoms.

All hail.

If we need a government at all (which is questionable) then it should limit itself to punishing violence and fraud.

Once it gets involved in anything else it commits violence and fraud against it's own people.

legislation and regulation is government control. it is the government telling us what we should do, or not do, and what behaviors it wants from us. for instance, if you want to buy a new car, you have to take the required emission controls that come with the car, all required by the government. if you want to eliminate those emission controls after you buy the car, you can but the government can then fine you big time for removing them.

if you want a car without emission controls, then you buy a car built in the 60s.

some legislation and regulation is good, the emissions requirement for instance is good. tel the people we cannot go around killing people willy nilly is also good. forcing food makers to put a warning label on their product that says, warning, this item will be hot after microwaving, well that seems rather stupid to me since the whole premise of putting food into a microwave means that you want to heat it up.

Legislation is a group of rules or laws enacted by the legislative branch of government (one part of our government). It is subjected to the limits of the U.S. Constitution as interpreted by the judicial branch of our government (one other part of government). It is not an expression of the power of government, it is an expression of the power of law. It can be repealed or amended at anytime. Even our hated government has to abide by law.

If you want to live in a country ruled by law and precedent, then legislation is inescapable.

Apparently you haven't read the Constitution; please do.
