There's debate currently going on regarding the free "preventative" care.
Is birth control preventative care ? If so then it should be free..right ?

Problem here is that they passed the bill but didn't define the conditions so now they are debating it. I do like how Mikulski says "clear intent". If it was clear then why didn't it say so in the bill ? Nothing like some gray wording so that you can go back later and argue points.

This could get pretty costly pretty quick....

"A panel of experts advising the government meets in November to begin considering what kind of preventive care for women should be covered at no cost to the patient, as required under President Barack Obama's overhaul.

Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., author of the women's health amendment, says the clear intent was to include family planning."

Cost- not so much. Good thing that deserves recognition-yes.
I agree with you that it deserves public awareness, especially for those who need it.

Thank you for bringing it to our attention!

Yeah.."free" is in the eye of the beholder.
Nothing in life is free. Higher premiums for all of us will pay for that FREE care.

I just keep waiting for more to come from this bill.
Pelosi said the truth when she said the bill had to be passed to find out what's in it.

Far better and cheaper to pay for birth control than an abortion or live birth of an unwanted child.

Birth control is pretty cheap today yet there are still abortions.

So then why are you concerned about costs? If we make birth control available to those who cannot afford it, do we not save more in the long run?

This free preventative care are for those with insurance.

Those that cannot afford birth control most like don't have insurance so this doesn't pertain to those people. This is for folks WITH insurance.

I say good.

After RvW took time to take effect, the crime rate plummeted. Children that would have been born, without real parenting, because they had no father and the mother didn't really want them, suddenly weren't. This made for better parented children, and lowered the crime rate nationally.

The idea against free birth control and/or morning after pills is that people shouldn't have sex until they are ready to have children. This is a silly premise for an argument. We are genetically hard wired to want to have sex, its natural, and its going to happen regardless of what stupid laws are on the books.

So being realistic, lets just allow free birth control for any woman who wants it.
