OMG yeah the largest military in the world and we can not expect them to protect THEIR OWN MILITARY HEADQUARTERS while the Homeland is under attack!!! OMG!!! 1. it wasnt a deflection. the FACT is during the 90's the military was cut in half, and the reserves/NG reorganized (the NG getting all the combat arms and the reseves getting the combat support( that's why the NG's were deployed so much during these 2 wars))
2. and yes we have people on stand by..that must be ALLERTED by the FAA.....there are thousands of aircraft in the air any any given minute during the day
3. the pentagon is less than 1.2 miles from a internations PUBLIC airport

Actually, there were only about 34 minutes between the clear sign that it was an attack (i.e. the second plane hitting the WTC) and the Pentagon impact.
And since the WTC towers were not military targets, what good reason would there have been to expect any military site to also be targeted at all?

Reagan gave them to Iraq in the 80s and that's when the Kurds were gassed. Took us a hell of a long time to avenge the deaths of the Kurds huh?? Even after the inspectors told the US the WMDs were destroyed or pass their shelf life.
