Maybe because we have a Constitution along with The Bill Of Rights....there is something in there about The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. 4th Amendment.

Domestic travel: standard xray machine, shoes come off only if the x ray beeps. Random chemical testing (when they open your carry on luggage and swipe to detect chemicals).

International: havent been anywhere this year, however last time, there is the standard x-ray. check carry on liquids. Shoes, belt etc (metals) have to come off. Dont think there is much difference.

Its just a reality of todays world.

Decades ago I was traveling a lot over seas and I'll tell yah El Al is the safest airline, I actually flew out of the Tehran airport on an El Al flight to Israel right before the khomeini took over and it was a near strip search, the plane was guarded by commados and we were interviewed extensively besides a search.

I don't understand why people here are throwing such a temper tantrum about the whole thing...get over it or don't fly.

Israel is pretty much a police state and as was previously mentioned, we have a Constitution and Bill of Rights.
You are free to leave and resettle in your police utopia at anytime thanks to those items.

When you travel to US checks are the same because US government requires them, so not like other countries can opt-out if they want to fly there.

Try to fly between random two countries (not police states like UK) and security is way less harsh. Definitely no full body scans or patting down. Shoes goes off sometimes.
