In its first months in office, the Obama administration sought to protect Bush administration officials facing criminal investigation overseas for their involvement in establishing policies the that governed interrogations of detained terrorist suspects. A "confidential" April 17, 2009, cable sent from the US embassy in Madrid to the State Department—one of the 251,287 cables obtained by WikiLeaks—details how the Obama administration, working with Republicans, leaned on Spain to derail this potential prosecution.

so when obama is thrown out of office in two years, the OP will be okay with the Next President prosecuting Obama for war crimes ?

or should the next POTUS protect the previous administrations as is the custom in the modern world ?

This comes as no surprise. Anyone following the investigation of Bush and his criminal administration read these articles long ago...

Obama On Appointing Special Prosecutor To Investigate Bush’s Crimes: ‘We Need To Look Forward’
Everything that is coming out of the Congress and the Obama administration is very worrisome. It’s not the type of stuff that would be said if you were seriously going to pursue prosecution. But they are insane to try to dodge this issue. Because if we don’t investigate this administration for war crimes and illegality — particularly war crimes someone else might. The fact is that the rest of the world sees these as war crimes.

Spanish judge to hear torture case against six Bush officials
Obama administration officials have confirmed that they believe torture was committed by American interrogators. The president has not ruled out a criminal inquiry, but has signalled he is reluctant to do so for political reasons.
"Obviously we're going to be looking at past practices, and I don't believe that anybody is above the law," Obama said in January. "But my orientation's going to be to move forward."

AP: Obama Will Not Prosecute War Crimes—By Scott Horton (Harper's Magazine)

Obviously when you are up against a Mafia-like entity in our government, it would be difficult to change the game plan. It's a terrible and shameful precedent to set, but one woud only have to use common sense to see what Obama is up against. He is crucified for something as innocuous as speaking to kids on TV at the start of the school year, so one can just imagine what prosecutions of the Mafia governemnt would do, especially when this nation is in crisis due to what the Bush/Cheney crime family has left behind to deal with.

I supported Dennis Kucinich during the primaries for good reason...that he introduced articles of impeachment and had the will and guts to bring the truth out and maintain some level of honor for this country. I do believe that Obama is being truthful when he says he wants ot move forward and I do believe that he is way too Centrist and easy going for a country that needed a butt kicker to to deal with the swamp and all of the slimy vermin that it held after Bush skipped merrily away.

Hopefully Cheney is being inconvenienced a tad with the indictment that is comoing out of Nigeria so that at least somebody is held accountable for crimes. It will be very interesting to see the United States ignore Interpol as we do have agreements since the 1930's that we will not harbor a criminal if another nation is seeking them out.

And not a peep about Obama supporting rendition. That's odd isn't it? They act like Obama is some good guy saint because he helped stop the mabman GWB, but out of his other hand comes a plane ride to a country that DOES torture. What's really the difference? Oh, and for the Sweden lovers here, I heard torture is practiced by the swedes and we sometimes send people there to be interrogated.
