Geez...even the First Lady, who hasn't done a damn thing wrong to anybody here, can't catch a break.

He's the Commander-in-Chief for crying out loud. If he doesn't visit the troops, then you all have a problem. He visits the troops, then there MUST BE some venal reason why he went there. You ascribe bad motives to the man just for waking up in the morning. The visit is between him and the soldiers, that's all. Leave it at that.

Truth is, the soldiers HATE these dignitary visits anyway. They've always hated it. Most want to be left alone to finish their tours with minimal fanfare. But it's the Presidents call to make...after all, it's his war and maybe he should peek in and take a look at it.

The meeting with Karzai was canceled due to dust storms and heavy cloud cover, dangerous conditions
when flying in a helicopter....the video-teleconference was canceled for the same reason.

LOL@ "the President of Afghanistan." Yea, because he's deserving of having his stature raised by meeting a U.S. President.

I feel bad for any modern US President. Imagine going to work, and no matter what you do, you have 10's of thousands or millions of people criticizing you... Because you looked at the camera funny, you made the wrong decision, you couldn't save the world in a single phone call, everything is now blamed on YOU.

No wonder presidents seem to age so fast.

I try to think of myself as a fairly capable guy, I'm a vet, I work in LE, but if I had to be president for a day, I'd probably end up curled up on the floor under the desk in the oval office... (Maybe not there after the Clinton thing... (ewww) or in the Lincoln bedroom curled up in the fetal position.

Opinions are like....., everyone has one. I am going to have to defer to the experts. "W" and Nixon are ranked a lot worse than Jimmy and I think that is fair. Those two are the worst in the last 30 years....not just my opinion.

VIP visits to a military base are always a major PIA to the enlisted personnel.
It is NOT the officers policing the grounds for cigarette butts and washing and waxing the floors?

Yeah.....lotsa fun.....................

He's there to visit the troops, not the corrupt SOB Karzai installed by the Bush regime.
