Walmart's "Janet Napolitano" Public Service Announcement - Survivalist Forum

This country is getting pathetic. We are being taught to live in constant fear of our surroundings. It's bad enough that we have to go through all of the crap at the airports, now at our local Wal marts.

When I was a young boy, we kids were told that the "bad communists" turned each other in to their government, up to and including their parents. We are becoming more like that every day.

I don't like Big Sis at all, however it was this campaign that prevented the Time Square bomber. See something, say something.

I know your perspective from Alaska may be better than mine. but as I am about a mile from where the incident happened , I can say unequivocally that you are wrong.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/02/ny...messquare.html

"Moments later, a T-shirt vendor on the sidewalk saw smoke coming out of vents near the back seat of the S.U.V., which was now parked awkwardly at the curb with its engine running and its hazard lights on. The vendor called to a mounted police officer, the mayor said, who smelled gunpowder when he approached the S.U.V. and called for assistance. The police began evacuating Times Square, starting with businesses along Seventh Avenue, including a Foot Locker store and a McDonald’s."

Heroic Times Square T-shirt vendor Lance Orton just 'an average guy'

[LEFT]"President Obama also reached out, calling handbag seller Duane Jackson, who cops say also alerted them of the danger.
"He thanked me for taking notice when not a lot of people would have," said Jackson, 58, also a Vietnam vet. "He said 'The nation is proud of you.'""

my point is the car was on fire. he saw it and called for assistance. a hero? Just an ordinary man doing what all of us would already do. To think we need to ramp up our vigilance furthers the same ruthless paranoia used to control people in many countries.Americans are smart and aware. Anyone would do the same, no?

And yep, the view is better from here. Thanks.

Shrug what did she say that was unreasonable?
If you see someone breaking into a car wouldn't you call the police? I would.
If you noticed a vacant house on your street being used for what appeared to be a crack house would you live with it?
And yes I have called ICE about an employer who refused to prove his non-english speaking laborers were here legally. My property my choice.

Just like we are also taught to live in constant fear that there's a pedophile hiding behind every tree in the white-picket fence neighborhood ready to pounce at a moment's notice, so they recommend microchipping your kids or constantly monitor their every action and not let them outside, just to keep them safe (doesn't that sound familiar?)

And now with the terrorists, we're taught that any terrorist could be walking among you so let the government sexually assault you to keep you safe, in addition to listening in to all your phone calls and other communication, just in case! Don't want to let the bogeyman get you or worse, the children!

By the way, doesn't body scanning children count as child porn? I mean, if none of us can possess even a poolside photo of the family without being charged for possession of child porn, how does creating images of children with resolution fine enough to reveal body contours, NOT count as child porn?

My goodness I don't think you have ever been to NY. Last year I was walking down 50th street and there were 2 camels on the side walk. I slowed down to investigate as I found this somewhat unusual and was nearly run over by people stampeding to work.

The car was not on fire, it was meerly smoking, and clearly no one else noticed since there are 10's of thousands of people in Time Square and only ONE reported it to police.

It is hardly controling people to say, if you see something out of the ordinary say something. Not a very subversive notion. I think the paranoia resides with the folks who are threatened by this.

By the way who mentioned anything about a view. But since you brought it up I'll take the NY skyline any day.
