Michelle Obama stated that obesity was a matter of national security.
That sets the bar at its lowest possible threshold to invite government intervention to save us from ourselves.
This is frightening when the government feels obesity is a national security issue. Where on the slippery slope of a government run society do you think we are?
“Military leaders … tell us that when more than one in four young people are unqualified for military service because of their weight,” the first lady says in prepared remarks, “childhood obesity isn’t just a public health threat, it’s not just an economic threat, it’s a national security threat as well.”

Is anyone awake?
Granted with luck we'll never have to prepare for full-scale war complete with a draft. But imagine if we did? Imagine if we had to fight WW2 with a nation of overweight or obese soldiers? We'd have to rely on our technology alone to have a chance. Obese people aren't just physical liabilities, they are mentally slow and less motivated (don't think 'desk jobs').

Then obviously, Meechelle is a threat to national security as she is plenty overweight. She is not a perfect size 6.
She needs to think before flapping her gums OR maybe she should lead by example and lose 30 or so pounds?
This is what she said:

It's professional spin doctoring. The question is, are these 1 in 4 applying for military service or are they referring to 1 in 4 young people alive in the U.S.? If it's the latter, it has no relevance to anything. Military will only take certain people, the fatties won't get in anyway, so if they want to reeeeeally get in, they will shape up. More than likely, they won't, and the fit people will still remain at a high enough percentage that we'll have adequate military personnel.

Yup! As I posted in another thread: when the liberal progressives pull out both the "it's for the children" and the "national security cards" red lights and sirens as to the real agenda of federal government control (and union paybacks).

Are you awake now?
Really? Are you suggesting Gov. Christie is mentally slow and less motivated? Seems he thinks and debates on his feet quite well compared to Obummer.
I'd love to see that debate in 2012 as Christy would mop the floor with him and his ideology; another discussion though.
Simply stated, people can get into shape and shed pounds much more quickly than they can shed their liberal ideology. Thus, I think it is less dangerous, in regard to national security, to be overweight than it is to be a progressive liberal.
HNope, this legislation is about government control in the daily lives of Americans (and union paybacks). If long-term success was the goal incentivizing schools receiving federal monies by requiring nutrition courses be taught at elementary, middle, and high school levels as a part of the curriculum, as well as nutrition classes for those on Medicaid/food stamps, would have a greater effect.

Ideologies should be treated with the same regard as the Constitution's separation of church and state.
