Update: Actually, It Was a Bullet Part

It is not illegal to carry ammunition (limited amounts) in one's checked baggage (in original factory box). I'm not a reloader so I never checked into primers nor tried to fly with them. FWIW, a primer is not a "bullet part" as the bullet is the solid projectile at the end of the case. I suspect if it was limited to the same amounts as ammo., in the original boxes, that the guy traveling might not have been aware, or may not have checked into the legality or airline policy. Just another reason to drive rather than fly.

FBI spokesman Mike Leverock says there is no connection to terrorism....Leverock says several hundred bullet primers were discovered inside the bag after some ignited.
WTF is a "bullet primer"? There are bullets, primers and cartridges. I expect ignorance concerning firearms from the media...but from the FBI?

Yes, the FBI, and BATFE too. Don't expect "spokesmen" from government agencies to be knowledgeable in firearms terminology. Remember, that is part of how we got semi-auto rifles incorrectly called "assault weapons".

It might be an introductory book on bullets.

All too true. Much of the media has an agenda with respect to guns, and the average resident is too ignorant to know the difference.
