Not necessarily. I am a conservative that opposes the death penalty. There is not a government on the face of this planet that I could ever trust with the power to kill its own citizens, under any circumstances.

I agree. I advocate for the repeal of parole and bringing back "Truth In Sentencing." If someone is sentenced to 5 years in prison, they should serve every day of those 5 years behind bars. If someone is sentenced to life in prison, then they should spend the rest of their life behind bars.
Remember this is Massachusetts..... where criminals have more rights than citizens!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN ONLY IN MASSACHUSETTS!!!!!!
This can happen anywhere where there is a lack of communication between the Parole Board and Prison Records!!!!!
Solution: Appoint a new Parole Board and hold the old members as accessories after the fact of murder!!!! It's there fault the poor policer officer was murdered!!!! Not Massachusetts!!!!
I'm so sick of Massachusetts bashing in this Forum!!!!
It happens all over the country, a con previously convicted for murder is released then kills again and usually within a short period. When a cop is a victim it gets more news coverage. Homicides of police is up 37% this year.
CJ, this isn't the first time this has happened in Mass. Once a Governor gave a week end furlow to murderer, named Willy Horten. That basic idea was the Govnor wanted some new gun law. he knew Willy would kill again and willy did, but with a knife. That was no problem to the Gov nor though and he has 25,000 pages of new gun law delivered on his desk shortly after.
Why Willy even turned himself in in a timely mannor.
Don't take my word for it, run it past google.
I would add the govenor to that list, who ever he was that also signed the release.
Mass has historicly been a corruption of Govt for so long as I can remember, and that is about 55 years, as I am 59 now, but can't recall before that personally. I avoid Mass because it is the plauge.
How about the case of Daniel Tavares who killed his mother and was released after serving 16 years. He then moved to Washington State where he murdered a young couple. The psychologists who knew him indicated that this man should not be released. They released him anyway.
More Massachusetts liberal idiocy. And I'm a resident!

Well hope, maybe we should try not being such a laughingstock, then maybe people wouldn't bash us so much.

Reason: Please use appropriate language, or let the language filters do their job.
A quick ride in the electric chair immediately following his first violent crime would have prevented this horrible crime. Instead, we had to try and rehabilitate this guy by "empathizing" with him and "really trying to see where he's coming from" and "take into account his troubled childhood".

Very true.
While I feel the DP is justice and smile each and everytime I hear about an execution I could accept it being abolished if life really meant life and we did away with the country club atmosphere in most of our prisons.
