The Court has ruled in two combined cases from Arkansas and Alabama that a sentence of life in prison without parole for 14 year olds is a violation of the 8th Amendment.
Terrible decision. When I was 4 I knew murder was wrong, much less 14. This just rewards cold blooded killers and is a slap in the face to murder victims and their loved ones. Just watch, eventually they will outlaw life without parole for ADULTS...the system is clearly on the side of evil.

You may have known murder was wrong at 4 or 14, but you didn't fully understand the ramifications of it. If a 14 year old can be sentenced to life W/O on the assumption his mental and emotional development is advanced enough to hold him accountable as you would an adult, then there's no reason not to make all 14 year olds legal adults, with the right to drive, marry, have children, hold a job, vote and everything else.
This one is tough. I do not believe it's really a valid use of the "cruel and unusual" clause. I also do not believe that we should ever put a 14 year old in prison with no chance of parole.
Having a chance doesn't mean they will ever get out at that. Manson has had parole hearings for years. So while I do not agree with life without parole for teens, I do not feel this is the Supreme Courts call but we have those who would put teens in prison for life.
The tougher part is why does the US have such a high murder rate and why are children committing murder. Somehow people can't handle a beer until they're 21, but life without parole is ok at 14.
Incidentally, I'm sure most of you don't know the court also shot down the government's ability to kill children during W's time. There's not much surprise here.

Hopefully they get to shoot down Obama's reinstatement of that.
With friends who walked into a video store with a shotgun to rob the place and killed a person. The other "kid" after a night of drinking and drug use beat his neighbor and set fire to his home killing him.
Oh these poor children probably didn't know they should not GO AROUND KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE.
