Since the government requires it in the new healthcare law ;I think that the hospitals;providers should send them a 1099 as income and then be able to writeff the entire cost so has to pass the cost on to governamnt who sets the rules and has to enforce them. The fine will do little IMO.
Should People Without Insurance Be Sued If They Get Sick?
This may be a solution to America's healthcare problem that should please all.
1. Instead of being a burden to taxpayers, the sick/sued will have their homes and all valuables confiscated to pay for medical treatment.
2. No burden to insurance companies.
3. No government interference in the insurance industry.
4. Such a law will provide a great incentive for everyone to stay healthy.
What do you think happens now? People who can't pay their medical bills get judgments ruled against them all the time and/or they have to drain their life savings and assets to pay off medical bills. If they can no longer work because of their disability, most people downsize and burn through all their assets before they get qualified for government programs like DSSI or Medicaid.
And contrary to your opinion it's not possible to prevent every health issue thrown at mankind "just by taking care of yourself."
THe government controls health care and regulates insurance companies, medical practice and pharmacueticals. How much more control can you get except now they want to decide who gets what for health care. Enough is enough!
What needs to be done first is to allow health care plans to be sold across state lines. This will provide a free flow of competition that will drive down the cost of health insurance.
There should be catagorization of the types of health care plans:
1) Major medical for catstrophic illness
2) Minor medical for short hospital stays and on going therapy.
3) Comprehensive plans
4) Children's plans
5) Senior plans
6) Single young adult plans
6) Young married plans
You get the idea. This would all drive the costs of medical coverage down. This would also offer alternatives to work provided coverage. Portaibility would no longer be a problem. Pre existing conditions would make much less a difference since everyone could likley afford insurance. We could keep the indigent and poor on the current plan and treat them in the VA hospitals for serious problems and in the local clinics for the monor ones.
We could also encourage building and using more local clinics for families so they could be utilized by local families. They could see Nurse practicioners first for colds, flu, and other minor ailments. They could handle the broken arms, the fevers and the xrays all consulted by a Physician. This would take the pressure off the ER at hospitals. They could be cash clinics accepting cedit cards or designed to also accept insurance. Discounts could be offered for cash payments. All medical and insurance costs should be deductible 100% by taxpayers.
The Medical system needs to be deregulated so holistic practitioners and herbal healers could also be offered as an alternative to medical practice where Drs & Nurse practitioners work.
The government controlled medical system, as it is set up, is a monopoly for the the AMA completely controlled by the government. This system needs competition so as to free it up for more serious cases of the infirm and allow others without that hallowed "license" to participate in medical practice. The government needs to quit stigmatizing anyone who isn't a "Doctor" who graduated from some high falutin medical school so the public will accept and respect other medically trained people who can do much of the minor medical cases; problems people suffer from on a daily basis. This would free up the Drs to pay attention to more serious disease and trauma where they belong.
Scrap Obama care and start over by deregulating the Medical system as outlined above in the US and we will have taken a first step to logical and intelligent health care in the US.
I know of 98 people here in AZ that would love to be sued as opposed to the death sentence they have been handed by the Arizona legislature who cut their benefits & are now denied the transplants they need to survive.
2 have died so far.
America’s healthcare system is fundamentally broken. It is evident that many Americans believe in a price tag attached to life of human beings. Suing, or not, won’t do anything.
The ultimate goal of any ideology is to take over regardless of the consequences as long as it meets their personal belief system and selfish motives. And for the rich and the ruling elite, it is even better if they can trap the society to benefit from it. In other words, they strive for enslavement. This is visible virtually everywhere around the globe, and going back in history to any point in time.
The goal of any business tactic is to create a dependency on the product involved. For example, oil industry would like to see demand increase. The idea of mass transit or proliferation of an elaborate rail system plays against that. So it is understandable that they would lobby against such ideas which would reduce oil consumption. The health care industry has operated in that direction. It has managed to make people dependent on health insurance by pushing the costs up.
This won’t change until people wake up, recognize and speak out against the collusion between these corporations and corrupt politicians. It took Shay’s Rebellion in the 1780s to force America into re-evaluating, and ultimately, revolutionizing the American political system via the framework we called the US Constitution.
Until then, lip service to the people, and real service to the corporations will be the norm. Sadly, most people participate in that effect. But as a society, we get what we deserve. I guess, we deserve these politicians.
Personally, I hate to pay into the pool that supports medicare that supports people who use medicare and complain about socialism and anything government run. Given a choice, I would gladly contribute more to Medicaid, instead.

True, the healthcare system is broken and every life in America can be evaluated with a price tag.
I don't think the American people will ever wake up.
Some may say yes. For gosh sakes so many people who cannot pay their medical bills with insurance get sued on a regualr basis. Depends on who is answering this question.
Things have skyrocked even with having insurance, our medical has never been higher as it is under Obama and his croonies.
