1. Open up the market so that insurance companies do not monopolize it
2. Offer federal and/or state aid to "public" hospitals. These hospitals & clinics would be great options for those people w/o insurance
3. Crack down BIG-TIME on illegals
4. The state & feds need to be advocates for preventative care. More P.E. (thats physical education) for the kids.

I think its wrong that only 1 company makes the game Monopoly.

How about we do this? How about we ALL finally agree, there is not enough resources for everyone and, like it or not, resources are going to be rationed, based upon how much money you make, etc?

How about we, as a society, realize the TRUTH and live with it. No matter what anyone wants, equality will NEVER occur. THAT is fact of life. Let's all live with it and do what we can. Yes, for everyone, I realize that includes me.

Saying something like "why is she only making 10.50 an hour" is just ignoring a very clear problem with America's health insurance. You are trying to act as if it is her fault that she has no insurance. Its probably not. There has to be people at the lower end of the income spectrum for America to function. There will ALWAYS be poor people in this country to fill cheap labor jobs, whether they are born here, or brought in from other countries. They should be able to see a doctor when they are sick and not have to worry about it bankrupting them.
The "cheap labor job" my daughter has is teaching pre-school to two year olds, so their yuppie parents can go off and make 2-3X what she does. She does have company-provided insurance, but she sure as H*** can't afford a high-deductible policy OR an HSA with thousands of dollars in it.

Shouldn't we create a government program for those who don't know how to spend their money, it's only fair.
Oh, come on! How do you know that's how "these people" are spending their money? I can assure at $10.50/hr, that's not what most of them are doing.

No, no no. We have to make it fair. Lets start by having the gazelles start running down the lions. I'd like to see one of those "Smart" cars win in a head on collision with a dump truck too. The little guy needs to win the fight in real life, not just at the movies. Those lottery odds, it's rigged, it should be down to three numbers and the maximum payout needs to be $999,999.00, we don't need any more millionaires gumming up the works. Once we decide exactly how much is enough, these really smart guys and work-aholics need to just start handing over the money to those in need. Oh yeah, and while we're at it. You want an abortion, fine, but the second time the baby gets delivered and you and the semen donor (if it's his second time) are donated to science, since you obviously don't know what those things are for.

It's the "I got mine- good luck getting yours" version of the Social Contract.

But, by all means, let's repeal Obamacare everybody. Nevermind how many lives it's saved already. No socialism for us, by golly. Just send that money right back, and say "Thanks, but no thanks".

I think that about sums up the Conservative solution...
What lives has obamacare saved?

My version of the Social Contract goes "Here's what I have, here's how I got it, here's what it costs."

The liberal response goes something along the lines of "But it's too expensive for me to pay for that, so I want someone else to pay for it."

And how is any of this MY or the UNITED STATES problem? YOU had your daughter and its YOUR responsibility to deal with whatever occurs. It is NOT my problem to pay more, so your daughter can have healthcare. That is YOUR and, moreover, HER problem.

If you cannot afford children and the aftermath, don't have them. Don't heep your issues and problems on society.

What force is stopping her from being one of those yuppies making all that dough?

Those evil Republicans, obviously. They rigged the game. Don't you know that they never have to even try, they've got it all stacked in their favor, life works for them, at minimum wage and no more.

First off--this isn't just an issue for the poor. Tying health care insurance mainly to employment, combined with the ability of insurance companies to deny coverage if you have a preexisting condition is a nightmare--no matter how well off you are, if you want to change jobs, or you lose your job, your coverage is gone, and there's a good chance another company won't cover you if you've had a serious chronic illness like cancer.

The funny part is that the Republican response to health care reform was pretty much what the Democrats passed, except that they decided to disown it once the Democrats proposed it. Odd, huh? The Dems originally wanted something that went much further, like single payer, but they decided on what should have been the R compromise. Funny how one side can backtrack on their position if they're more worried about politics--like someone else actually getting credit for getting this through--than what's good for the American people.

Jesus, people are ignorant and insulting on here.

It's everyones business because we are no longer living on our own plots of land, independent of everyone, and doing our own thing. We now all live in a society, whether you like it or not, and the problems in that society are everyones problems. You can't get around that with snarky comments, you can only look stupider than you already do.

Fact: we will never, as a society, tell people they have to die or suffer because they are poor. Never. Ever. No matter what you think. No matter how fair or unfair you feel it is. Not. Going. To. Happen. Burn that fact into your brain and then maybe, just maybe, you will start to understand why your talking like an idiot.
