Well, for starters.....Novemeber 2nd, 2010 proved that Independents are voting for Republicans more than ever.....so you can trash that comment.

Secondly, PPP is a pretty biased source of information. IN fact, when you look at the other parts of this poll, it doesn't even come close to reputable polling companies like Gallop, Rasmussen, etc.

Well you somewhat backed up his assertion with this statement.
If 25% of All Americans = birthers
and ~35% of Americans are Republicans
assuming the vast majority of birthers would support Republicans over Democrats then doing a ratio of 0.25/0.35 shows a ratio of 71% could be birthers.
Since we know not all birthers are republicans, but a majority can be assumed so, then 51% of Republicans being birthers would be a valid statistic.
