NPR reporters can be as biased and politically incorrect as they want off the air, as long as they try to maintain a sense of professional neutrality on the air, which I would say a good deal of them do. The same goes for any radio station or TV channel. Even reporters have their own opinions. Who knows what O'Reilly or Limbaugh say off-air? Who cares? They're entitled to their opinions. The only words we're allowed to hold them responsible for are the ones on air, and it's only the on-air words that count towards how biased or unbiased the station is.
Damn. You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to nimchimpsky again. This post was so worth some reputation. Hope some others are giving it to you, because this was spot on. And right out of the gate, too (first post)!

Only one problem. The NPR execs were not acting on personal time, they were representing NPR.
Why would the top brass @ NPR be "appalled' about the comments from their 2 execs?
Hammer, meet nail - government subsidizing of NPR is done...or will be soon.
Well, since these two seem to think NPR should forgo federal funding and will be perfectly fine without it, I'd say this tape might be the nail in coffin.
Just listen to this guy as he talks about the American people - what a disgrace. This liberal, biased executive has been outed.
Thanks for the link to the video. It is good to hear straight forward truth and honesty is still a hallmark of NPR.

Just not with the upper management.
But, when all else fails, just pretend that a lie is the truth and sit there with a s**t eating grin pretending that it's a good thing these people were busted. That's the ticket!
Fortunately, you don't get to decide what other people can write.
Not trying to "decide" what other people can write. Just politely giving feedback. If people want to write disgusting descriptions, that is certainly their right and option on this board. I mean "vomiting tripe" is such a lovely thought and seems to be a sort of over the top visual of your opinion of NPR and liberals in general.
As for NPR providing programming which I, as a liberal, very much enjoy, I would certainly not be complaining about that and would totally support it.
For the record, I agree with everything that the NPR exec said and is spot on with every single point (I only watched the first 5 mins or so). I don't think it was inappropriate for him to have an opinion. And he took off his NPR hat before espousing his own opinions, so he was very clear that he was not representing the views of NPR. He certainly is entitled to speaking his own mind. If you went undercover into middle America to get real footage of people speaking their minds, boy would that be a nasty, nasty revelation. People just view his thoughts as "condescension and arrogance" because he was talking about them - and being called uneducated and racist is a hard pill to swallow especially when it is true. They are just proving his point about the anti-intellectualization of America. It is very sad.
