The Chevrolet Volt is beginning to look like it was manufactured by Atlas Shrugged Motors, where the government mandates everything politically correct, rewards its cronies and produces junk steel.
This is the car that subsidies built. General Motors lobbied for a $7,500 tax refund for all buyers, under the shaky (if not false) promise that it was producing the first all-electric mass-production vehicle.
The Chitty Volt,.....the "electric" car that Government Motors used to dupe the American government using taxpayer funds. Just another union-made piece of junk with sales in the cellar.
I can tell from your lack of posted opinion on the article that you completely disagree with the person who wrote the editorial.
The guy who wrote the article forgot a few things. First, there have been federal subsidies for high mileage vehicles for quite a while. This is nothing astonishingly new. Other car manufacturers would have access to the same incentives. That would include companies who didn't have to be bailed out by the federal government.
To boot, the author seems to ignore that the Volt will be going on sale in other countries as well. He also seemed stunned that a car might cost more than it's base price. Pretty much every car on the market has options. For high demand vehicles, dealers do sometimes charge markups. What that has to do with the manufacturer I don't know. I'm not sure why an intelligent person would write that.
As for sol11's comment about the Chitty Volt, I guess I would defer to Automobile Magazine and Motor Trend who both called it the car of the year. Of course, what do they know?

To not have said so would likely to be considered anti-Obama, and therefore, raaaaaaacist.

It's quite obvious that Motor Trend and Automobile Magazine are both radical socialist publications, run by George Soros and the homosexual lobby.

You nailed it noexcuseforignorance.
We should be impressed with the automobile magazine's choices for the "car of the year". After all, they picked the Chevrolet Citation, the Chevrolet Vega, Cadillac Catera, Renault Alliance, the Chrysler Cirrus, the Ford Probe, the Corvair, and the Merkur for that title,...not to mention the Contour, the 2002 Ford T-bird, the Taurus LX and the Chevrolet Monza. What a bunch of losers.
You are correct,...the should be no excuse for ignorance.
I liked the "concept" of the Volt but I already knew it was an outright failure... I was surprise when liberals attacked me for attacking the Volt... its WAY, WAY overpriced.... GM was being very sly (with the government's help) at how "successful" the Volt has been from the public and testing... I knew they were lying... the battery lifespan (not running time) is going to be bad... the price is simply outrageous... it should of been in the mid-2ok given its interior and performance... when GM made it in the 40k's, I already knew they got a major dud... I just couldn't believe what they were thinking...

That just shows you that one man's "car of the year" is another man's useless piece of trash. Opinions are like a certain orifice... everyone has one.
