Chicago is probably the biggest city to privatize city departments. It sold off the skyway and street parking. Tried to privatize operations at Midway airport but there were no takers. Not all residents are pleased with the parking deal.

Anchorage resident were so displeased with the Anchorage Parking Authority that it went all the way up the the Alaska Supreme Court. The court ruled that only sworn law enforcement officers can issue citations, even for parking. That ended the Anchorage Parking Authority.
