Well, that is what happens when the federal government steals from the private sector. The "bad economy" is illustrative of liberalism at it's finest.

More Americans leaving the workforce - USATODAY.com

Quote:
The share of the population that is working fell to its lowest level last year since women started entering the workforce in large numbers three decades ago, a USA TODAY analysis finds.

“No matter how wealthy you are, you have a problem if half the population is not working and depending on those who are,” says John Goodman, president of the conservative National Center for Policy Analysis. “Wherever you look, we’ve overpromised.”
This is just a really depressing number....and yet, the democrats would like to extend those UE benefits even further. Maybe if they got their way, even more people would give up their jobs and live on the dole.

I have a really hard time believing that half the population has no work.

This is so misleading. This only states that 45% of Americans are BLUE COLLAR workers, and roughly the other 40% are white collar workers.

The economy would be in much worse shape if half of Americas didn't have jobs. Nice try, though.

Nah, I can believe that when you take into account that about 27% of the population is under the age of 20, and another 13% is above the age of 65.

And the OP joyfully cheers lowering that rate by cutting government spending during a recession.

Rule: In order to be a right winger you must have no clue how the economy works.

But don' take my word for it.

I think putting it like this sounds harsher than it is, there is unemployment which is high, but only a little above half of the us population is actually part of the workforce, so its pretty normal to see almost half, depending on the other half... think children, housewives (househusbands) and elderly people.

What I think is important is how much of non-working population is children and how much is elderly people.
