Many people say the stimulus was a success at doing what it was supposed to do and others say it wasn't a success. Anyway I think it would be better to judge the stimulus based on what happens after those dollars run out.

Currently we are hearing that the jobs situation is improving and I'am sure many are connecting that to the stimulus. But what happens after those stimulus dollars run out? This is becoming a worry for many.

According to this unemployment will likely increase after those dollars run out.

As lawmakers around the country debate their states’ budgets, they’re staring over the edge of a massive fiscal cliff — the point where about $100 billion in federal stimulus money for education will run out.

The end of that money will compound states’ severe budget woes and likely lead to thousands of layoffs and the elimination of popular school programs around the country.

Rude awakening on the horizon.

Was the stimulus a success ?
They don't even know where the money went in spite of 2, yes 2 websites dedicated to the cheerleading of "jobs created and saved".

Chalk that stimulus up to "money flushed down the toilet". It will NEVER be accounted for.

So many necessary posts on Wall Street corruption on this forum. Yet people continue to deny the reality . OP read zerohedge.com. Please.

NO ONE supports Wall Street bankster fraud, which is now being royally endorsed by Bernanke himself. They are felons and should get life in jail.

Until new statutes are enacted which the FED must follow, we are all f-d.

We have a lot more half finished bridges or bridges to nowhere that we didn't have before.
We have a lot more "animal crossings" on roads that we didn't have before.
We have a lot more bike trails that we didn't have before.

And we still have the old bridges that states claimed needed repair that are still needing repair.

Shouldn't The Stimulus Be Judged After It Ends?
Well of course NOT, that wouldn't be fair at all, would it? We all know when it comes to obama/dems/libs, it's ALL about intentions, not whether or not their ideas and policies SUCCEED.

In their party FAILURE is rewarded.

I think the nation knows full well the $1+ trillion obama stimulus was an utter failure.

In my area, the only roadwork they've done since the stimulus was pave a few miles of US 30, and a half finished bridge over I-83 and repaving half of the right lane on I-83 oh and, huge shiny signs of the America Recovery Act, Putting America to Work that were removed right after the 2010 election. Nevermind that the regular streets are uneven, full of potholes, and ugly patchwork being done on them. The Pennsylvania way of fixing roads is to put strips of fresh tar on the surface. What you have is something that looks trashy with black lines zigzagging everywhere

Couldn't have said it better myself. Just like with the whole health care thing. The libs would rather have substandard, bad government health care than good health care that you have to pay for (except if you go to the ER, which you then don't)

Economics is too complex these days, too many processes running in parallel and influencing each other. It is impossible to say whether or not specific stimuli have worked. It is also impossible to say what things would look like if there had not been such stimuli. It is not a simple cause and effect mechanism.
