I don't see the real point as there is no state to recognise. Nothing new as far as France anti-jewish stances since before WWII.

In spite of my support for a two-state solution ASAP, I gotta agree with deep-rooted French anti-semitism likely being the motive here. There SHOULD be a recognized independent Palestinean state but recognizing the Authority as an independent country is just not accurate.

How is recognizing an independent Palestinian State free from illegal Israeli occupation 'anti-Jewish'? Israel should have been forced to end the occupation decades ago and we wouldn't have the 'terrorism' we have today. Too bad the Jewish lobbies in the USA will prevent that from happening.

It exists only in your head, not in reality.

Don't know how old you are, so you might not know that there used to be a country called Palestine, which is now called Israel.

Palestine..wiped off the map after WW2.

There never really was a "country" called Palestine. For centuries the area was under control of the Romans, then various Caliphates, then it was part of the Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem, then part of the Ottoman Empire, then part of Eqypt, then again part of the Ottoman Empire.

When the Brits took over the region after WWI, they called it the British Mandate of Palestine, which was composed of two territories - Palestine and Transjordan.

Anytime somebody wants to recognize Palestine, it does not mean that they are anti-Semitic or anti-Jew!!! The fact is that the actions of the state of Israel caused much displacement of the Palestinian people. That is a fact that is undeniable and should be rectified with some solution. The first step is to recognize the Palestinians as a separate entity - not to ignore their existence just because there was technically no recognition of a Palestinian state previously.
