PS Make this modern (1900 or after). No votes for Lincoln if you are a Dem.

For me, I'd have voted for Eisenhower. He was a great man, a military hero, and I'm a big fan of the Interstate System. He was also a political centrist.

Anyone else?

Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt, William Howard Taft in 1908 (because he was running against Bryan).

Of GOP candidates who didn't win: Charles Evans Hughes, Gerald Ford, and Wendell Willkie. And, if what is known about LBJ now was known about him in 1964, Goldwater.

Eisenhower I'd vote for.

If I could pick primary candidates, it'd be John McCain from the 2000 campaign. You know, before he drank the kool-aid.

I like Ike and would vote for him, though he was also a bit too liberal for me because of his non-adherance to the constitution. I also liked JFK quite a bit.

yes, but he was the old fashion type of Dem and they weren't all that bad back then, except for LBJ. LBJ was the worse thing to happen to this country, even worse than FDR.

If I would have been old enough, I'd have voted for Reagan twice. Many liberals feel this way, though.

Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt, and Lincoln. Nixon if he wasn't such a crook and racist.

I'd vote for Ike and T.R. over any Democrat right fricken' now if they were running.
