So by this reasoning, any child raised without their same-sex parent would learn to identify with the parent of the opposite sex and what, 'become' gay?

That is exactly why single mothers are urged to provide a male role model family member/close friend to help mentor their son.
While I disagree with these programs designed to teach my child what the school district thinks is "normal", I go ahead and let them attend. And then once it is all over, I sit down with my child and discuss what was taught in the special session and correct any misinformation that was given to them. Has worked so far without any trouble, just remember to take a deep breath every time you hear the stupidity that is being given to your child as truth.
I agree with your approach. When my children were growing up, I did the same thing whenever they came home with their heads filled with religious nonsense.
Thanks Maja for sharing this amazing program. I think that someday it will enlighten others as to later not have them post vitriolic posts about gay youth on a website. How horrible would be that be, an adult not understanding the fundamentals of sexuality and just post whatever she wanted simply because of ignorance and hate. There's plenty of transgendered kids that come from a 2 parent household, and there's plenty of non-trans that come from single parent households (with no real opposite sex model).

Maybe you should find something more recent that Freud. He may have been the father of modern psychotherapy, but a lot has changed since his time.
The "changes" that have come about are the result of social/political activism not by any sound scientific studies. Freud, like the rest of America, has been silenced. Doesn't mean he was wrong.

And now works for NARTH, which is anti-gay and anti-trans.
As this article by a prominent expert in the field of Bias points out, beginning in the 60's, the Social Science fields have become more and more Liberal, until we are now at about 80% Liberals dominating the field with conservatives being the new minority and finding it near impossible to get anything published. So, it is not surprising that recent studies will be published that contradict the tried and true, time honored work of people like Freud. Like this article points out, there is a Tribal Mentality at work, that will support the current ideology du jour; which has been directed by the Gay Activists.
If you choose not to believe the above or Dr. Socarides because he is associated with Narth, how about the words of two brilliant homosexual men, one of whom was a researcher in neuropsychiatry and the other a PhD Harvard Graduate in Politics who worked in Madison Avenue Marketing who stated in their book,"After the Ball: How America Will Conquer its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 1990s by Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen ."...our effect is achieved without reference to facts, logic, or proof...through repeated infralogical emotional conditioning, the person's beliefs can be altered whether he is conscious of the attack or not. (Kirk and Madsen, p, 152-153).
Sounds like BrainWashing to me. The public schools are being used by the radical gay activists as a tool to tinker around with our childrens' heads to try and change society. People better wake up. Our children will be paying the price for this social experiment.
