I was thinking something along those lines.
At least half my friends and half my girlfriends have been Jewish throughout my entire life. Only recently did I encounter a few die-hard pro-Israel fanatics and their views were kinda scary.
For those who don't know very many Jews, please do not assume that the original post in this thread is representative of what the majority of Jews think or feel. They're as diverse a group as any on the planet. They do tend to have a cultural tradition that leads to excellence, this is a positive stereotype and all evidence points to it being true. Jews didn't conquer Hollywood or the Medical and Legal professions by manipulation or force, they did it by doing the job better than others did. They did it the old-fashioned American way: they worked hard and succeeded.
But for every orthodox Zionist Jewish doctor there are probably at least 10 secular progressive open-minded Jewish doctors. It's very rare that I encounter the extreme pro-Israel hysteria hinted at in the opening post. It's important to keep in mind that Israel itself has a very divided population, with at least half the people working towards peaceful cooperation with Palestinians. Not all of them believe they are "God's chosen people." That's more of a common belief among conservative evangelical Christians than it is among Jews, as far as I can tell.
