But the lady in that case did everything WRONG, including putting the coffee cup between her legs, removed the top to put in her sugar and what ever else, WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. in my opinion she deserved exactly NOTHING as the fault was all hers.
Hey, accidents happen Reminds me of this tale of woe
This morning on I- 95, I looked over to my left and there was a woman in a brand new Cadillac doing 65 mph with her face up next to her rear view mirror putting on her eyeliner.
I looked away for a couple seconds and when I looked back she was halfway over in my lane, still working on that makeup.
As a man, I don't scare easily. But she scared me so much; I dropped my electric shaver, which knocked the donut out of my other hand.
In all the confusion of trying to straighten out the car using my knees against the steering wheel, it knocked my cell phone away from my ear, which fell into the coffee between my legs, splashed and burned Big Jim and the Twins, ruined the damn phone, soaked my trousers and disconnected an important call.
Who's at fault here? Diabetic woman Sues Dunkin' Donuts for Putting Sugar in Coffee.
Well, if the woman ordered artificial sweetener and got sugar instead, then Dunkin' Donuts is at fault. However, if a couple of packets of sugar put this woman in a diabetic coma, then she obviously does not have good control of her diabetes. That being the case, to be safe, she should have ordered her coffee with the sweetener of her choice on the side. IMO, she shares the responsibility for what happened to her.
Being it could not have really happened it's all BS, you blood sugar could not go so high it woiuld put you in a coma over a cup of joe, normal around 100 a cup with sugar would never send it over 250 not a big deal. Maybe she had a few dozen donuts with her coffee.
Stupid is as stupid does.
I have friends who are diabetic, and those in my family. When you are diabetic, never assume someone is going to do what you ask. The people i know, watch for themselves, very easy to make a mistake as in this case. They watch as they are given coffee or whatever it is thay they ask for, because the diabetic themself has also got to take responsibility and make sure their actions are followed thru. Don't ever assume employees are not going to make mistakes, they do they are only human. It is sad that people suffer at the hands of others for clearly making mistakes, but also the diabetic has got to also take responsibility, because mistakes will and are going to happen.
In this case, I agree with all of those who say a teaspoon of sugar could not have sent this woman into a diabetic coma. Heck, even quite a bit more than that wouldn't have sent her into a coma, assuming her blood sugar was normal when she ordered the coffee.
