"Osama bin Laden is dead, but the war on terror is far from over," Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, said in a statement. "How can the Congress pretend to be serious about protecting the nation from terrorism, while voting to allow known terrorists to buy guns?"
Last month, the Government Accountability Office reported that 247 of the 272 individuals on the terrorist watch list who attempted to buy firearms last year were cleared to do so. The 25 denials were made for other disqualifying reasons, including felony convictions or histories of spousal abuse.

These days, anyone can be a terrorist. This was a smart move, as ordinary patriotic Americans have been raided by the FBI and branded suspected terrorist in the past for participating in non-violent protests and End the Fed rallies, among others
Those dang Republicans, voting to uphold the constitution again. It is amusing to see how the hypocritical liberals now want people on the watch list treated the same as convicted criminals, but when it comes to blocking them from flying on planes it's "innocent until proven guilty". They are on the watch list but haven't been convicted of anything so they have the same rights as anyone else.
Why not just arrest the people on the watch list and send them down to Gitmo since Obama still hasn't closed it? Would that make you happy?
I haven't read into this particular bill. But I can guess right off the bat that the bill would restrict legal citizens and do next to nothing to actually prevent criminals from guns yet pro gun control always paint it that way, helping reduce crime and not mentioning the dirty details about how most people hindered by the measure would be legal citizens.
Just like Obama and company when they attempted to restrict citizens using the lie that guns are being supplied to the Mexican drug wars.
Just like the lie about .50BMG rifles will be shooting down airplanes unless they are banned.
I remember one time there was a bill or measure being voted on for flood relief to a state and there were ridiculous riders tacked on to the bill that the Republicans voted no to the bill because and the Dems declared " the heartless republican's voted no to flood aid".
BS politics as usual. Which both sides are guilty of.

As soon as I read the OP's post, I knew it was yet another strawman post by a liberal characterizing the GOP as palling around with terrorists. The bill actually is to prevent Americans that detest the government from obtaining weapons.
MOST of the people on the terrorist watch list, don't even know they are on it. So, John Smith, who has no criminal record and has no reason to be denied ownership of a firearm, other then the fact he is on the watch list, gets denied. He goes back to other terrorists and find out they too have been banned.
Now, all those people on the watch list, which are being watched, stop involving themselves in terrorist activities. And/or, change their day to day activities, making gathering intelligence that much more difficult.
Sometimes, if you just think beyond "black and white," there can very good reasons for things.
