The goal in Afghanistan should have been to eliminate the Taliban as well as all the citizens who supported them. We should have bombed them into the Stone Age. Instead we wasted a decade and far too much money and U.S lives in the false hope of spreading Democracy to this country. You can't give these people Democracy because they want the Taliban. The Afghan people love how the Taliban physically harm women, won't let girls go to school, etc. They will support and vote for primitivism everytime. So here we are on the verge of leaving and after all that effort and expense the Taliban is making a resurgence What a failure.

Americas ongoing efforts in central asia and the middle east have been the best recruitment tool possible for the Taliban.

Yeah we never should have let our corrupt CIA create Osama Bin Laden and give him surface to air missiles to boot. This is nothing knew. We created Saddam as well. And when he turned on us we had to clean up the mess. We'll be cleaning up the mess from signing a $60 billion arms deal with Saudia Arabia as well once that country implodes. Same thing with Pakistan. All this aid we are giving to Pakistan will come back and bite us. The only difference is it won't be some goat herding terrorists shooting back at us.......it will be our own Predator Drones, Joint strike fighters, and nuclear weapons in the case of Pakistan and SA. God Americans are idiots and our leaders are even bigger idiots. But what do you expect from a populace that thinks Two and a Half Men is the best show on earth.

Dont' be so hard on yourselves! There will have been some good come out of this that will make it tougher for the Taliban to thrive down the road.

Witness the recent "in your face" rebuttal of the law forbidding women to drive cars in one of those camel-shagging places.

Brute force and ignorance may subdue them for awhile but I predict those segmants of the populace "over there" that have been suppressed for eons have had a taste of freedom and they will long for it again.

If I were a "Talli" who beat his third wife that afternoon and went back to sleeping with wife number two or his favourite goat, I might want to sleep with one eye open.

They are being dragged (albeit kicking and screaming) into the 21st century and no power on earth can put the lid back on that box.

We should have bombed them with chevy's and washing machines.

You've got that right.

We have forgotten how to fight a war, we cannot account for every bomb or missle hit, innocent people die in war too. "War is Hell" truer words have never been spoken.

In my opinion you make them think the doors of Hell have opened upon them, destroy their military and turn the people against their government.

Whenever someone uses the phrase 'BOMB THEM BACK TO THE STONEAGE' regarding situations like Afghanistan, it makes me think that they must not have much idea what it is really like over there- and thye must not realize that this area has been in conflict for thousands of years-has never been able to be controlled by the British, the Russians, us-it is a cause best left alone-get out and let them fight each other for another thousand years
