My point is that he needs meds to live a normal life. He can't get rid of pets or change his lifestyle to cure himself. In fact, changing lifestyles, or where you live or whats around you, isn't something most people CAN do anything about so we have to do what we have to do.
They exist; however, medication is over prescribed. Some things like depression can be temporary caused by some trauma, but then the person gets hooked on the feeling of being "even".
Drug companies really do want to profit off of it.
Nope, except for me. And I quit for 15 years and still had asthma. NO ONE, in my family smokes, has dirty carpets, and certainly my mother has no pets. Like I said, it's genetic. Mine was early onset. Hers was late onset.
BTW, without the help of pharmaceuticals, I would not be here typing this. Mom uses an inhaler, I take a pill. And since I've been doing so for 32 years and never ended up in the ER, I continue to take that pill.
God knows your "holistic" methods did nothing to cure me.
My cousin on a different side of the family was depressed to the point of suicide. His problem was the loss of his older brother when he was young. This kind of depression is the type our resident skeptic seems to be talking about. However, my and my relatives' depression isn't like that. I didn't lose a close relative when I was young, wasnt physically nor mentally abused, wasn't sexually molested, parents didn't divorce, and I didn't suffer any traumatic event until 1991 when I was in Desert Storm and in 1997 when I nearly drowned in a Navy minesweeper. However, my depression started long before then back in the mid to late 70s.

That's not accurate. Surgery is temporary trauma, wold you like to go through it without anesthesia?
Of course Pharma wants to profit from their innovations. Do you think there would be much advancement without the profit motive? I'm a nice guy, I provide a valuable service, but I don't work for free.
Anyone else noticed the large number of agreeing going on here between liberals and conservatives?
