...directly corresponds to the decline of the middle class in this country?

The authoritarianistic individualism inherent in these people have directly led to the destruction of the middle class, jobs, and the manufacturing industry in this country. By focusing on themselves economically and attempting to force others to conform socially to their beliefs, they have forgotten the all-important mantra of ensuring that the community as a whole is doing well. Without the community doing well, it slowly erodes at their own position, and they don't realize it until it is too late.

This is the thing that is most puzzling. How do they expect to continue doing well if everyone below them is economically ignored? But it is okay, because they always manage to somehow think their position is okay by twisting the Bible's words (even though there is ample evidence in the Bible that their position is directly contrary to most of Jesus' teachings).

It's truly sad. We can only hope that someday soon, this destructive movement comes to a much-needed end.

I don't really see that connection. Evangelicals have little economic influence, the typical manager and CEO is probably not a Evangelical at all, but superficially Christian.

The only connection is that Christian evangelicals vote Republican, and the Republican party hasn't done a good job over the last 15 years of being an executive or a legislature or both.

Their only fault is that they vote based on social issues, instead of the economic issues.

Not necessarily. Almost all American Evangelical Christians promote the low/no-tax, no-welfare, no social programs, your on your own economic model. That's where the hypocrisy lies.

A single evangelical Christian, of course, won't have much influence... but a mass of them would. All of those cheap items from China they are buying at Walmart are helping to erode their own positions.

Of course there's no such thing as progressive Christians... other than President Obama of course.

Can yoiu site some information that clearly states the Evangelical movement is growing in the United States?

I have always despised those people, they are like the Christian counterpart of Islamofascists and other nut sects. They are also rather un-American as they don't really accept any other beliefs and views. Even Jesus would hate them...

Keep in mind that I'm speaking of since the height of the middle class existed (1950s). It's well documented that AEC grew since the 1960s and that the middle class also declined.

Do you admit that the economy took a nose dive under a Republican administration, with a Republican congress?

Otherwise you are ignoring reality.

Deranged rant full of opinion, agenda / anger toward a particular group with no back up.... You should discuss this with your pastor...
