The President demonstrates once again that he's a yellow-bellied, panty-waisted, pacifist coward. Oh, and lets not forget Democrat. They churn these types out by the millions.
Obama has his nuts in a vice with Mexico. You see if he knew about BATFE's operation "Fast & Furious" as early in his administration as it is believed a number of very high ranking heads of government agencies, including himself, could be facing very serious charges regarding the deaths not only of our own USBP agents and innocent Americans but of innocent Mexican's as well.
Obama might have a point if he were appealing for the stay based out of a sense of morality/ethics/belief system.
However:
Quote:
"I have said repeatedly that I think that the death penalty should be applied in very narrow circumstances for the most egregious of crimes,"-Barack Obama
Smacks of vote hawking and pandering.
Shame on him.
The criminal killed the person in American soil right?
Not that there is anything Mexico can or will do because even Mexico says murder is murder.
This Mexican has been in the US since he was 2 years old.
Yet, because he's Mexican, he's got a right to talk with the Mexican consecular office because he's not a US citizen. He had near 20 years to talk to them and waited until last week to complain ?
Leal has lived in the U.S. illegally since he was a toddler and in 1994 kidnapped, raped and murdered a 16-year-old girl in San Antonio.
He is here illegally. They say that because the Mexican Consulate was not involved, the case should be thrown out.
He is breaking the law just by being here. He is not (or was not) on the tax roles. He went to school for free. He probably got hospital care for free at an emergency room. He commits murder and rape, and doesn't want responsibility for that either.
At what point is enough, enough? This is ridiculous. They want to live here, but they want their own rules. They want to live here, but want others to supply their education and medical bills.
Either follow the rules or get out. Enough is enough.

By treaty (and hence US law), Mexicans accused of crimes in the US are guaranteed access to the Mexican consulate and to have their defense aided by the Mexican consulate. This man was denied that right, hence the appeal.
US citizens in Mexico are granted the same rights (by the same treaty). The US not adhering to this law could have negative consequence on US citizens in Mexico (tit-for-tat kind of retaliation). Obama is simply doing his job as the chief law enforcement executive of the US.

Bush tried this very same thing in 2005 for this guy and 49 other Mexicans.
Bush lost.
Tried again in 2008 and lost.
But Obama will win ?
Also there is now NEW pending legislation in Congress that will let the Fed make decisions for states regarding crimes committed by non-citizens.
The WH wants 6 months stay...I guess this is how long the legislation will take to get passed so the Fed can now take over state judicial matters.
