It is not up to our president to interfere with such things he needs to do the job he was elected to do and keep his nose out of state issues!
WASHINGTON — The Obama administration took the unusual step Friday of asking the Supreme Court to stop Texas from executing a Mexican citizen convicted of raping and killing a 16-year-old girl. The administration said the court should delay the planned July 7 execution of Humberto Leal for up to six months to give Congress time to consider legislation that would directly affect Leal's case.
Police discovered Sauceda's nude body on a dirt road in San Antonio in May 1994. Evidence showed she had been raped, bitten and strangled. A large stick that had a screw protruding from it was left in her body.
Among other evidence, the bite mark was matched to Leal. Her bloody blouse was found at Leal's home. She and Leal had been attending a party not far from where she was found.
To be fair, there's a fair number of cases where Americans commit crimes in Mexico, are tried and jailed in Mexico, and the U.S. later repatriates the American criminals before their sentence is up and lets them go free in the U.S.
Please, please, please don't interfere with these Christians once they've decided to kill somebody.
The individual in question raped and murdered a young girl. Forensic evidence matched his bite marks to wounds on her body. Her bloody blouse was recovered in his dwelling. He left a stick with a protruding screw imbedded in her lifeless body.
Despite all of the above you want to take this as an opportunity to bash Christians. Amazing.
Why worry about ridding society of a murdering rapist scumbag? Why worry about protecting American citizens or providing justice to those that killed them? Much better (in your mind) to take this as an opportunity to bash the TEA party and take a swipe at Christians. Your values and twisted vision of reality would have to substantially improve to suck.

And what part of the Constitution do you not understand i.e., evidence no matter how damning does not preclude a defendant from receiving full rights under the law.
The Supreme Court has previously ruled that states can't be forced to comply with the provisions of treaties without some intervening federal legislation.
And, since you didn't read your own linked to story, the Administration is not compelling the state of Texas to do anything. It is requesting, asking, petitioning the state to adhere to the Geneva Convention which I might add:
Though the Senate ratified the Vienna Convention in 1969, its consular notification requirement was often overlooked. Mexico, citing the cases of 51 foreign citizens then on death rows in the United States, complained to the International Court of Justice in 2004. That court found that the United States was bound by the treaty, and Mr. Bush asked the states to apply it.
Of course if obama had any backbone or showed any empathy for Americans who are murdered by foreign nationals he would have NOT authorized this request...
BUT, being the spineless liberal elitist he is he didn't.......
This situation is all the more reason to stop the illegal aliens still pouring across our southern borders.
If our borders were secure this poor girl would still be with us.

Is it your strange and convoluted belief that as the chief law enforcement official the President of the United States is not responsible of both ensuring the constitutional rights of individuals within the jurisdiction of the United States and that with regards to U.S. treaty obligation is not required to ensure that they are adhered to? And, considering Texas' record of prosecutorial misconduct, incompetent expert testimony, and utter failure at providing anything approaching competent attorneys for capital cases, it would be reprehensible for the chief executive to not step in.
Because the law was possibly broken by Texas in its rush to convict. By the way, Obama did not ask to throw the verdict out, just put a 6 month hold on the execution. The guy has been on death row for how many years now? 6 more months is no big deal.
Guess this could give him a lead, in the Latino vote!!
As if every right wing politicians and right wing pundit who are trying to bash Obama on this are not very supportive of the State killing people.

Texas had the death penalty way before any Tea party formed.
And there's not many tea party folks in the Texas judicial system that tried him.
