Both sides have teams of people to go over and work on these bills. This "pass it without reading it" crap just shows how little these people understand the process of our government.

Downsize DC is running a campaign intended to compel legislators to read the bills they vote on; DownsizeDC.org

They support a number of issues that are worth the time and effort of participating in for those that embrace the idea of smaller, more accountable, and better representative government.

How about taking the time to read the text of her speech, or listen to a complete video of it. That may help you get "away from the fog" about it.

Good thinking!

Passing a bill without reading it

There should be legislation requiring a bill be read and reviewed before being passed and when anyone can prove that the yes voter did not study the bill he should be immediately fired/executed(hah) by his constituents!

I must disagree with you about this one. Every Congress person has a staff that is supposed to do what you say but with the limited amount of time that they had for Obamacare and the Stimulus Law and the number of pages there wasn't time for them to even scan them. Nasty Nancy said that they would have to pass that abortion of a health care bill and thereby said she didn't know much of what was in it.

Nope, all those bills are supposed to be considered or written by committees and then debated on the floor. These rules have not been followed too many times lately, especially the debating part. i wonder if you really know just how this is supposed to be done.

The sad part of this one was that her saying those immortal words was the whole debate for that bill. How many Republicans voted for it?

Where is your link to that whole speech, bob? I would really like to know the rest of the words that were the whole House debate.

With your rules we would need about 535 new Congress persons just for the Affordable Care Act. But I sure do agree with you.
