If a person wants to die and somebody else wants to passively assist, that is a right we all have and the government should stay the hell out of it. This is MY body and leave your bloody hands the hell off of it! Helium is LEGAL. Plastic bags are LEGAL. The book Final Exit is LEGAL. So together they are legal too. Stay out!

check out nitrous oxide too.

an on point analogy...
guns are legal too but pointing them at someone else and pulling the trigger is similarly illegal.

That is true but pointing at yourself and doing it should be perfectly legal. And so should selling a gun, bullets and a paper telling you the best places to do it where you will die with the least amount of pain and mess for others to clean up - if you care about that.

Perhaps so; but it isn't now.
Is it?

this has been an issue for many years and heavily debated> I do not agree with you, the reason, there are too many possibilities of mis-use.

Well I don't think the government can really stop anyone from killing themselves and you don't need a kit to figure out how you can do it. There are a lot of ways to die if you really want to do it. Just eating the right (or wrong) kind of plant can do that.

I think a lot of people don't really want to die so instead of just getting some knife and slicing an artery or big vein, or drinking drano or overdosing on barbituates and alcohol - they want someone to be able to notice and maybe stop them. It's very easy to die really.

Well there are a lot of people with debilitating diseases that do not have the physical ability to end their own life. That is where the debate comes in.

so it should be ok that she sells them to your child? your sister, brother, best friend?

Suicide is a selfish act that isn't affecting only the 1 person. While I know what you are saying and it makes some sense there are many instances it is just a poor choice. and perhaps people are too caught up in life to see hope.

The OP (however poorly) raises the question of euthanasia.

If your not clear on the distinction:
