I'm not that old (33 yrs) but when I look at all that is going on in the world, I can't help but get a sickening feeling, like I'm standing on thin ice in the middle of lake afraid to move as the ice cracks and shifts all around me.

Anyone else? Does the media make it worse than it sounds or is our civilization really teetering on the edge of disaster?

I guess I'm not looking for proof for or against, just your gut feelings of the moment...

You probably should have lived in the 1930s.

Does it matter? Even if the world were calm and serene, you are still going to die one day.

hm it's worse,, the ice that you are standing on is cracking and melting, but in the distance a forest fire is heading your way, but you will be alright, a team of firefighters are coming to rescue you with goods made in china. yep the rescue boat has leaks and is made from inferior materials, the fire truck broke down 10 miles up the road cause two of the tires got flats cause they also were made in china..ohh dang,, i almost forgot to tell you about all the toxic pollutants in the lake that you are standing on.

don't worry though, we have men and woman on capital hill fighting for your survival.. ohh ****e,!!! guess your going to the bottom. bellies up buddy

It matters if you are trying to generally predict the trends comming down the pipe in the near future. If the majority believes the world is unstable, they will plan and act accordingly, generally making world institutions more unstable.

I want to know if this is our version of the 30's.... few people would say it didn't matter that WW2 was comming in hindsight, had they been able to know.

That's fine. I'm looking for impressions, not an argument for or against. I have my impression, but I could be wrong too. My crystal ball is just as cloudy as everyone else's.
