I hope by the time that I am getting closer to death that it will be legal. I do not want to live out my last days pooping and pissing on myself and have someone change my diaper like a infant. To me that is not living and I do not fear death,we are all going to die.
But this issue belongs to the states and I would not want the federal gvt involved at all. As far as the SC I can not think of any constitutional grounds stopping a person that chooses to die.
I'm not talking healthy people who just don't want to live anymore. More like cases of people with constant chronic pain with no chance of recovery who should have been dead years earlier if it wasn't for modern medicine stringing them along to keep big pharma's pockets lined.
Euthanasia should be legal! That would solve many problems for America.
Doctor Jack Kevorkian constructed a simple contraption for euthanasia. That contraption could be simplified even further, mass produced, and sold over the counter (without prescription) to anyone of legal age (21). Maybe for a sum of $50 or less. The do-it-yourself kit (in patriotic red, white, and blue packaging) could also include a small American flag to wave while the euthanized softly sings God Bless America with his/her dying breath. Death should occur before the song is finished.
Euthanasia is a win/win situation: the sick can avoid needless suffering, the taxpayers would save vast sums of money and the government would not be involved.
It is perfectly legal now. Well, who is going to put a dead person in jail? We call it suicide.
Euthanasia, is when someone else decides it is your time to go.
If someone can afford it, I would have no problem with a mentally healthy human from deciding they would like to end their lives. I don't want insurance paying for it, or mentally ill folks doing that, but if I have cancer at 40 that is going to kill me and be extremely painful, and I have 1 year of extremely painful death, and its inoperable and not curable, then yeah, I want to be able to go to sleep under the influence of some really GOOD drugs, while enjoying spending time with friends until I simply fall asleep, and don't wake up.
It is also true that as corrupt as our society is, the authority to end anothers life is a frightening tool to give anybody.
I don't want to put end-of-life care in any bureaucrat's hands, and I suspect a lot of people feel the same way, that's why Palin's death panel comments about Obamacare rang such an alarm bell.
If anything, people need to educated about sensible end-of-life decisions, from dealing with hospitals, nursing homes and hospices.
