On to more pressing needs like sustainable development. Agenda 21 push will now be on full throttle it appears.

Why are these lunatics even there? Now they're talking about changing their peacekeeping helmets to green to be peacekeepers for crisis that might arise due to global warming.

Ban will focus on broader issues of sustainability, which will be in the spotlight at a summit in Rio de Janeiro in 2012, marking 20 years since the first Earth summit.

"Because the circumstances have changed, the nature of his engagement is changing," Orr said. "The relative balance of his time is shifting towards getting it done on the ground out there."
UN officials, and those who closely track climate change negotiations, insist that Ban has not lessened his commitment to finding a solution to climate change. Ban has called global warming "the greatest collective challenge we face as a human family".

"His heart is still there, and he does want to make a breakthrough in his tenure, but this might provide a better platform in the near future," said one UN official.

However, they say he now believes there are more immediate gains to be made in mobilising international finance to support a green economy in developing countries than in trying to persuade world leaders to commit to deep cuts in greenhouse gas emissions.

Wonder if the great orator will be howling about all the private jets heading down that way here soon?

They could care less about real environmental issues. They are just a group of wealthy control freaks who now feel emboldened to be able to consolidate their power and move toward what they call global governance.

Part of their plan is to move all humans to community living areas with people stacked in like bees in a hive. That is why we have the push for high speed rail. Gotta be able to jump from hub to hub.

I think the crowded Asian countries are the model for the west. Stacked and packed they call it or something like that. The United States is way too big and open for that to work but that won't stop the authoritarian types though.

I always say this about global warming.

Is there evidence its happening, yes. Is there evidence that humans have at least contributed to it, yes. Is there any evidence that destroying our economy today will do anything to fix it, no.

We should end our dependence on oil, not for global warming but for economic reasons.

There is absolutely nothing we can do about global warming because we have 0 influence on every other nation in the world to force them to stop their carbon emissions.

Global warming, whether happening or not, human made or not, is either going to happen or not, and there is nothing you, me, or any other human can do about it. Besides possibly a scientist coming up with a perpetual motion machine or a solar panel that is 50% efficient.
