Local News | Muslim man sues after being fired because of his beard | Seattle Times Newspaper

A Muslim man from SeaTac who claims he was fired from his job as a security guard after refusing to shave his beard has filed a federal lawsuit against his former employer.
Abdulkadir Omar, 22, began working in Kent for California-based American Patriot Security in May 2009. He said no one told him when he was hired that he would have to shave his beard, which he keeps closely trimmed and said is part of his Islamic faith.

If he wants to have a job bad enough he,ll shave it. When I was younger I remember having a job offer extended to me , but one of the conditions was that I had to shave my beard. Guess what I took the job. If you wanna dictate to employees than start your own business.

Private employers should be able to hire or fire you for any reason they see fit.
