Is this a serious question? Considering the lessor is exercising its property rights to tell the lessee to get her flagpole off their property, those rights appear to be quite intact.
I think you are missing the point on this one. She does not own the property. The owners can dictate if the Flag can be flown. Maybe I would ask why the owners do not want it flown but even if they say becuase they hate American they are still the owners and they have a say so on their own property.
Flying the Flag is not a protected right. I love the Flag and I post one everyday at home before I go to work but people need to realize flying a Flag is not a protected right, take care.
This kind of thing pops up every so often, maybe a couple of times a year. Usually it's an apartment complex or a condo association that has rules against anydisplays of flags, banners, and signs, but someone takes it personally and as a sign of blatant anti-Americanism if the management wants to apply it to the American flag.
There's no substance to the argument, but try telling that to someone who is bound and determined to be offended, no matter what.
I mean, a year ago I leased a house from an elderly lady, who was moving into a retirement home. Once I took possession of the house I decided to turn it into bar, strip club and porn shop, with a 'naked' car wash in the driveway.
Well! I soon heard from the elderly lady. I was not sure what she was bleating about, but it was something about her not liking what I did to her property. "I thought you were a nice boy", she said at one point, grasping her heart. I blew smoke into her face (and I do not even smoke; I had to hunt up one of the motorcycle girls and borrow some smoke), and said "Property rights, witch!"
I mean, if you lease your property to me, I can do anything I want with said property. Actually, in some countries, the land becomes mine, and I never have to give up possession, even if I quit paying the rent. I mean, possession is nine-tenths of the law, or something like that. I, of course, stopped paying that witch any money at all.
Today I am opening a shooting range in the back yard. No doubt the 'liberals' will whine about the school yard abutting the yard. "Think of the children" they will probably say.

i meant that the thread should have ended right there because this is kind of a non-issue. your post summed it up well: she's leasing, not the owner, and as such the lessor is allowed to dictate what can be done with the property.
