What is your opinion of the Kennedy political family? Righteous do-gooders who brought positive world change, or savvy politicians who pull out all the stops to win elections, legally or illegally? Were the Kennedys good for Mississippi and the south in general?

Did the Kennedys bring positive change for Mississippi? If so, what exactly did they do? I was told by the Rhode Island thread to "stay in the south".

The Kennedys are a cuss word in Mississippi. JFK gets a free pass for the most part, but the current one doesn't. He was recently caught making fun of the state. I hope the murderer gets what he deserves one of these days.
You may want to bring this to the political forum, if the Mod's don't move it on their own accord. But my quick opinion - The Kennedy's are mostly irrelevant to Mississippi, nowadays anyways. But my quick opinon - The Kennedy's are representative of the worst of the democrat party for southerners and a reason that most vote GOP now - representing the New England eletist liberal political machine branch of politicians. That branch of the Dem's have pretty much given up on the south. Ted Kennedy - just some broken alcoholic that happens to have some power.
The Kennedys are seen mostly as far off liberals. He wouldnt have a prayer running for office here. He seems so disconnected and when you have been in power as long as he has, you can only imagine the corruption and how many special interests groups that have "bought" him.
JFK was seen differently and generally accepted.
Ted gets no love.
JFK Jr. was irrelevant although women thought he was good-looking.
I think Bobby was probably fairly well accepted too.
The younger ones floating around now are pretty much irrelevant although they may consider themselves more important than many would see them.
If the Kennedys' are seen as "far out liberals" in the South, I can't wait how the South will embrace Rudy Guiliani as their next George Bush. I guess Rudy can just talk over and over again about 9/11 and the Southern people will vote for him, or anybody for that matter.
And he was shot down in what is still today the reddest part of the South.
There can be one idiot or a conspiracy of several, that doesn't mean it reflects the thoughts of everyone.
