I agree. Call me a neo-prog if you wish. I'm actually just your typical Clintonian Democrat, which used to be known as an Eisenhower Republican. I realize in today's world of talk radio fans that means I'm a communist.

Interestingly enough there was a 90s Canadian progressive rock band called the Tea Party. In otherwords a neo-prog band that was named the Tea Party.

You go boyfriend, you play that race card.

The point, as if you're actually interested in an honest discussion, is that she claimed that since there is a Tea Party Caucus then there must be an official tea "party" and I said that there is a congressional black caucus as well as a hispanic one, does that mean that there is a black "party" or a "hispanic" one. But let's be honest, you really don't care. You're too busy playing your cards.

If Neo Con is acceptable, which it is, then so is Neo Prog. A Neo Prog is a modern day leftist. They usually profess tolerance, but only tolerate those that agree with them. Otherwise they engage in personal attacks, rampant defamation, propaganda, name calling and even sometimes physical assaults.

Sophia, did you invent this term? I suspect you did because you use it most often, but lately I notice others parroting it.

As I've already posted, be aware that the term "neo-con" was not coined by the Left. It was coined by neo-cons themselves, who were hawkish Democrats who decided to cross over to the Republican party. The term was not coined as a slur.

The label "Neo-Progressives" was created in the early 2000s when the Democrats started calling themselves "Progressives." Since there has already been a Progressive political party, several of them in fact. That makes this new liberal label "Neo-Progressives."

The original Progressive Party were Republicans who split from the GOP when Teddy Roosevelt ran again in 1912. It also became known as the "Bull Moose Party" briefly, after the attempted assassination of Teddy Roosevelt in 1912 during the campaign when he boasted "I am as fit as a bull moose." That political party disappeared by 1919.

There was another Progressive political party formed in 1924, again from the ranks of the GOP, which lasted until 1938.

Finally, another Progressive political party was formed in 1948, this time from leftist Democrats. They were anti-war and fully supported the creation of Israel (boy, how times have changed). The party was disbanded in 1955 from the pressure Democrats applied against them in their House Un-American Activities Committee because they refused to denounce communism as a political party.

So technically, this new wave of Democrat progressives should be the "Neo-Neo-Neo-Progressives."

Sorry glitch. You're history is off. Some Democrats started calling themselves progressives in the late 80s, early 90s. Admit it. You first heard this term from Sophiasmommy and now you're trying to cook up an explanation for it.

I heard the term first after Bush was elected President in 2000. They split off from the Democrat Party because they were not happy with how far left Clinton went. Pelosi was one of the first people to adopt the label herself, and she was proud of that label.

Democrats have chosen to call themselves something they are not. No conservative would label these intolerant hardcore radical socialist fascists "progressive" by any stretch of the imagination.

A google search turns up zero results of Pelosi or anyone else referring to themselves as neo-progressives, glitch. I think you're making this up. Just admit that you heard sophiasmommy using it and you thought it sounded cool, so you came up with this whole hokey back story -- similarily to the way you tried to convince me that a group that will be appearing on the Alaskan ballot in 2012 would never be able to get on the ballot.
