535 million dollars in stimulous money was pledged to this solar panel manufacturer. Now 1100 folks will lose their jobs and we lose our money. Can't wait until his announcement next week on his new job ideas.

"President Obama faces political catastrophe in the form of Solyndra -- a San Francisco Bay area solar company that he touted as a gleaming example of green technology. It has announced it will declare Chapter 11 bankruptcy. More than 1,100 people will lose their jobs."

Default Green jobs are the new industrial revolution, said Obama and the Democrats

Actually, not really.

Evergreen Solar Seeks Bankruptcy With Plans to Sell Itself - Bloomberg

A company that created 133 green jobs after millions of government subsidies is entering into bankruptcy

Quote:
The company, based in Marlboro, Massachusetts, blamed the bankruptcy on increased competition from government-subsidized solar-panel makers in China and the failure of the U.S. to adopt clean-energy policies.
So, they failed because the U.S. government hasnt artificially pushed green energy, and they were out-subsidized by the Chinese.

Quote:
Solar-energy equipment makers are being hurt by excess capacity, the cutback of subsidies in Europe
So government created a big articial demand and now that subsidies are being cutback in Europe, there are too many solar panels around and too few buyers. Ah, so where is this supposed green jobs revolution that liberal policymakers have been touting? Can you say egg on face? The solar company is in debt just shy of half a billion dollars even after generous government subsidies

That's funny. I just posted a thread about solyndra out in cali claiming bankruptcy too after leeching 500 mill from the taxpayers. Going "green" is destroying the country. Ask Spain about it.

Yeah I noticed. Two separate green job companies now going into bankruptcy even after such generous government subsidies. Every country that has tried to do this is failing, and the Chinese government will find out the hard way, eventually. If green jobs failed in Europe, what makes anyone think it can succeed here or in Asia? The technology is horribly inefficient

...and only 1,100 jobs created with a half a billion stimulous dollars. Wonder where all the money went? Another thing, the CEO credited his companies demise to "over regulation". Thanks Obama for leading from behind.

This s just funny. It is simple, once technology development improves to make it cheaper to mass produce green energy than it will pick up. It is not cost effective, people are not sold on on average, itis too hard to use conveniently...Geez, people in DC need to be honest. This is a fantasy, and the peoploe are not buying it. Would it be nice if we had more green eergy and less dependency on fuels such as oil, sure, but not going to happen soon. Govt needs to stop wasting our money on this loosing scenario, offer a few more carrots to private sector and let them do it.

That is the problem green energy is not cost effective yet. We looked into going wind since we live in the valley and 90% of the time it is a blowing. We hope one day that we will be able to afford it where it does not cost as much as are whole house.

While Germany has moved on, to getting 21% of its energy from alternate sources. Failure and discouragement, mockery of thinking outside the box, unacceptability of exploring new venues while worshipping the set ways has become an American trait. A nation, clearly on the decline.

When government steps out, corporate interests step in. The key for your support then is, who do you trust in having the best interests of the people and the nation as a whole, and why?
