The leaders of the African American community exclude Whites when they use the term colored. I think that is very wrong and very discriminatory. White is a just as much a color as black, yellow, brown, blue, or whatever. I think White people, if they want, should be able to use the term to describe themselves.

Well blacks are various forms of brown and whites are actually a form of pink.
They don't care, it is IMO just putting race and class warfare forward to hurt the country.
It is pathetic IMO.

according to some here, people can demand that they be called whatever they choose, and those that don't abide by their demands will be subjected to spontaneous fits of outrage.
maybe you should get together a political action committee. make it happen.

I have never heard a black person refer to themselves as "colored". In fact I always thought it was used in a derogatory manner to refer to someone as "colored".
Unless you're from South Africa, in the USA it's a very 1940's way to call someone black... IMO.

The term colored was originally used by whites to designate blacks, so why are you targeting this question at blacks? You start many threads based on questionable premises, why don't you do a little research before you ask questions like this?

Technically, if we are talking colors here, white is the absence of color.
I can't even believe that a thread like this was started.
