A businessman might actually understand cost v.s gain. Something our elected reps dont seem to understand.
And this is one of the biggest reasons I think a businessman would work. At least businessmen understand fiscal matters better than all the clown in Washington.

Oh crumbuns I voted the wrong way. The thread title is "would you be opposed to a businessman running the country" and the poll question is "would you want a businessman running the country.

No offense at all to someone who runs a business, but the skill set is different IMO. Business is, well business. If things don't work out, you can fire, demote. promote pretty much according to whim. Government moves more slowly, and people need to be governed. It's not PC to say it, but most people are too stupid to know what is good for them. A skillful politician can sell a needed program to the public and effect change that is needed. Businessmen tend to think that they can send out a memo, issue an order and that is that.

We don't need no businessmen being president! We've already lawyers and actors for president. Let's do something different...get a candidate from WWF, someone who is good at Smack Down!

Did you feel that I was addressing you when I said that most people are too stupid to know what is good for them?

So are you the type of person to spill piping hot coffee in their lap or what?

If the shoe fits, by all means wear it!

Most people are STOOPID.

Oh really? You feel as though most people are too stupid to know what's good for themselves? Then please, all-knowing one, tell us what you think is best for us.

Did you ever consider that government programs coddling them will only make them more stupid and less independent?
