You really believe this stuff, don't you? You were fed a load of propaganda by the likes of Nancy Pelosi who, seeing the effect that tea party rallies were having on the national debate on the Democrat agenda and, rather than engage the tea party concerns and arguments, she and her allies in the media began demonizing tea partiers as racists, corporate pawns and any other pejorative they could muster. And you internalized that tripe so that it has become truth to you.

Pelosi and 0bama cannot defend the huge federal debt the have created, cannot justify all the trillions spent on stimulus, so they can only demonize the people who are voicing their opinions and pointing these things out.

No offense, but the tea party might have a lot more credibility, let alone support, if they weren't so easily co-opted either by the interests of the GOP or else by the wingnut "social conservatives".... who seem more interested in fighting things like gay marriage, abortion and "illegals", than they care about the "economy"!
You may be surprised to find that Americans are split on homosexual marriage and unrestricted abortion. As for illegals, they take jobs from Americans. How is that a separate issue from the economy?
What I want is the complete destruction of crony capitalism and the American way of Greed. I want to establish free markets and actual capitalism with real rewards and real risk for all investors.

add corrupt lobbyists in there and it would be great reform. Politicians are too corrupt though, they need their 11 cars and 13 houses. It is beyond sickening.
The corrupt powers that be have manipulated and seduced an ill informed and weak minded bunch of ignorant people to believe that bowing down to corporate entities, Voodoo Economics and Wall Street thievery will actually improve their lives and recapture the good old days. They are too stupid to understand how they are feeding the beast and actually hurting this nation beyond repair.
That article makes a mockery of objective science. It would have been somewhat clever (albeit inaccurate) if it was written in The Nation, but seeing as how this guy is trying to paint a political diatribe as a serious scientific observation just goes to show that he is a quack.

I think that it all boils down to one thing...Campaign Finance Reform...problem is, with the exception of a very few, politicians will never stand up to take the money out of politics. They're either way too entrenched with the revolving door lobbyist crap or too deep into cronyism with Cororate America. Now with the Supreme Court ruling that there are no limits on campaign donations and very often with zero disclosure and transparency, how does the average American stand a chance?
The way things stand now, how can a viable candidate run for the Presidency without a billion dollars to campaign with? Does everyone not see what is wrong with this picture?
The average American is not supposed to have a chance. Only the properly wealthy and connected Americans and their children are supposed to have a chance. The rest can just shut up and keep working if they still have jobs. If not they can shut up and live on unemployment. Everything will be fine so long as they pay their student loans and buy Chinese junk on credit.
so true re: chinese junk. I hope more retail stores start failing, the quality of clothing sold here is so very poor, even designer wear is made in Macao- people should just stop buying.
Target-lol my dh bought jeans at Target and they shrunk 3 sizes after 2 washings- its pathetic what is happening in America, I cant believe more consumers arent outraged.
