The Obama administration is scrambling to contain an emerging diplomatic crisis in the Middle East, as Israel's closest Muslim allies lash out at the country in a string of demonstrations some fear could jeopardize an already-fragile peace.

The latest flare-up occurred over the weekend, when hundreds of protesters in Cairo stormed the Israeli embassy, forcing Israeli diplomats to flee. That comes on top of a prior clash between Egyptian and Israeli officials after Palestinian militants coming by way of the Sinai Peninsula attacked Israeli targets last month.

Maybe, just maybe, Muslim extremists in control of several more countries in the ME isn't a great thing.

We need to build lots of nuclear power plants, the sooner we can leave the M.E to kill each other off over each other's imaginary deities, the better.

Put both ends of extremism together, and you can't expect anything different.

Not great for Israel, maybe, but who cares? It's called "you made your own bed, now lie in it."

It's been about 40 years since an Islamic country attacked Israel (not counting criminal gangs within some of those countries). I can't see war between Israel and any of her neighbors being a good thing.

Democrats in general have always seemed better at domestic issues than foreign affairs, but this White House is absolutely clueless as to middle east issues.

Arab spring is beginning to sound like some new bar soap that smells like a camel.

It'll be worse for Egypt. Freedom is one thing. Economically it may devastate them for awhile. Currently Petroleum is privitized but if the new gov't keeps on meddling with corporate contracts the way they are now then its heading for nationalization again.

And some said Glenn Beck was a kook for predicting just this. It is as though humanity learned nothing from the Holocaust.

No, especially with a nuclear Iran. Who knows what they've purchased from North Korea. And I suspect that even if Israel did try to negotiate with the Palestinians, there are too many generations of hatred and mistrust for any lasting solution.
