Not good news for the president, though very little is nowadays. He's got a real problem with independents..and his effort to appeal to them by caving to Republican demands and moving further to the right seems to have only made things worse..
When you take into account the unemployment figures (no president since FDR has been reelected with unemployment above 7.2%) and Obama's current approval ratings, it's pretty obvious he is in big trouble..
Quote:
A majority of Americans rates President Obama “about the same” or “worse” than his predecessor, George W. Bush, according to a new Gallup poll.
When a random sample of 1004 adults were asked to compare the 43rd and 44th presidents, 34 percent of respondents said Obama had been a worse president than Bush, while 22 percent said he was about the same.
-----
Predictably, Democrats were most supportive of Obama, while Republicans favored Bush in the poll. The response from independent voters might be most telling for Obama: a troublesome 67 percent said they considered him about the same or worse than Bush.

THis is what I've been saying for a while. You can throw around all the "Republicans are gonna lose because they hate gays and TPers are all racist" card all day and all night, but the fact remains that if he doesn't create a couple million jobs by next year, he is toast. Obama is no FDR, and he will go down in flames based on the economy. People don't give a crap about abortion or gay rights when the money stops flowing and when the food stops coming to the table and when they are about to become homeless.
It's also about time the poll reflects this about Obama. Obama has done everything that Bush has to a T, but his zombie followers approve of his actions because he is (half) black and because he's a Democrat.
These opinion polls are absolutely worthless, they can be worded to supply whatever result the originator of the poll wants to see.
As has been said numerous times in C-D threads the MSM is worthless in reporting anything other then biased BS.
Yeah sure it's the poll's fault.
You do know, that not only has no president since FDR been reelected with unemployment above 7.2%, and even the WH expects it to be around 9% by election day, but no president has won a second term with the kind of approval ratings Obama currently has..
You can try to spin it if you wish, but there's no getting around the fact that Obama has a real uphill battle..not only against the Republicans and the economy, but against history..

What's weird is, as you say, Obama has continued many of Bush's policies, breaking campaign promises left and right along the way...yet you have the mindless partisans on both sides completely ignoring it. The Republicans go about claiming Obama is some kind of socialist, and you have the Democrats claiming he's brought great change.
Obviously, neither is true...but the party cheerleaders could care less. They wait for their respective party's talking points so they know what to think, treat every election like it's some kind of sports competition (my team "good", your team "bad")..while the real issues and the truth take a backseat..

Mark my words, if anyone but Ron Paul gets elected, the Republican president will continue the Kissinger Doctrine and afterwards, the ol' bait and switch again in 2016. The Republican president is gonna continue the same old policies, the Democrats and Independents get sick of them, and vote in another Democrat, and then rinse and repeat the cycle.
You will notice that it is ABC who makes that proclaimation about Obama.
Obama owns ABC and ABC is trying to make Obama look good with that report.
The rest of the nation rate Obama as a special case who cannot be compared to any previous American president. In fact Obama will have an asterisk after his name discounting the legitimacy of his presidency due to incompetence or intention destruction.
Obama will take his place alongside JW Booth, Ben Arnold and Lee Harvey Oswald.
Hey, Alert(anthony weiner memorial website)Watch read this.
However, given that those who say Obama has been as effective as Bush are generally negative on Obama's job performance, it can be said that independents give Obama a largely negative review.

Who can really blame them? He has been a complete disaster.
