Forever the government unions have been paying politicians to grow them, to over pay them and to give in some cases millions in retirement pay and benefits.
We have way too many government employees as a percentage of workers. It is now above 10% and decades ago it was more like .00001%.

I am told we can't fire a third or more of them to relieve stress on paying for a large government because they were promised all the great stuff no matter what when they bribed politicians.

So how about we give it to them anyway and then just tax 90% of it back to the treasury to make up for all the outrageous lottery styled deals going around?

Democrats like new taxes, isn't this a great idea?

We can do this, after all they create new taxes at the drop of the hat and the tax code and regs do discriminate as to who, how much and when they will tax you all the time.
Every day Obama wants a new tax, sometimes only on certain people. Then he says Pass This Now...
Here is one Democrats will love and it should bring many trillions back to the treasury.

So 90% on the pensions and benefits of government workers.
They can bribe politicians and the tax payers should be able to go back in and bring it to the treasury rather than let them tax it from your children's mouth, right?

Democrats only like taxes on people who don't vote for them, i.e. people who work for a living...

Where does this all consuming hate for government employees come from? Why do I wonder if the OP is unemployed, his homepage is USAJOBS.gov, has applied to over 1000 government jobs, and hasn't had a single interview?

Also, the federal tax code is part of law, which congress writes and the president approves, not federal workers. Please get your civics straight.

How about we cut spending, raise more revenue, and reform entitlements?

JUst taxing the cost of their subsidized health insurance at ordinary or even capital gains rates would be beneficial to the country.

I am not a gov employee.
But let the first person who wouldn't gladdly accept those benefits step foward. How many here would voluntarily give back these great benefits in the name of ethics?
very few would. I don't begrudge these workers for accepting what has been given them.

Federal retirement pensions are taxed by the IRS. If you live in a state with income tax, they get their cut, too. Not all federal employees are union.
