When are the American people going to stop sniping at each other and recognize the problem(s) are not Republican caused or Democrat caused but GOVERNMENT caused?

Just look at the threads here....

The finger pointing and accusations have reached ludicrous levels...

I mostly agree, but think it goes back further than 'government' and see it as more of a general human greed problem.

Yes there is tons of greed, take away the enabler (government) and the greed should radically decrease.

I don't quite agree with that because it reminds me of the 'guns kill people' approach, I think that running around trying to take away all the enablers results in a communistic government.

humans are inheritantly greedy. To add to that, we live in a world where the main motivation for doing anything is money.

We are, but we are also inherently giving, maybe we just need to strike a better balance?

The main motivation being money becomes a little murky. Rich fatcats like money because it makes them feel powerful. Young people like money because it allows them to have fun. The middle class likes money because it provides security for our families.

sure, but like churchill (i think it was churchill) stated.... capitalism is the worst economic system, except for all the others. The complexity of our economy and the complexity of people in general leads to greed being the most effective way of advancing society

Love it.

I still think greed is complex in that the dollars and cents is the ticket for what we really want. However, we all want different things and money is the one thing in common.

Back to the main subject, I think that it's unhealthy for humans as a whole to be so divided, we do it every chance we get. We're 'forced' to choose sides politically, are you a republican or a democrat, choose your side. I fantasize about a politician, with no affiliation, who stands in front of the American people and speaks of what he/she believes, without a hidden agenda, then simply asks for a vote if you feel the same way.

I hate to be partisan on a thread that really attempted to be nonpartisan, but you've got to realize, plw, that you guys are the ones who hate government, not us. I see government as neutral. It can be used as a force for good or evil. I think in the past both Republicans and Democrats have used government to do some good things and some evil things.

Technically speaking, you are correct, but I'm sure you recognized that the intention of the word was probably something more like 'the contents of the government'.
