So some con artist not remotely affiliated with the tea party is using the tea party name to scam people. They do that with the red cross, the american cancer society, you name it.
I guess that means they've reached a level of mainstream notoriety and significance.

An invented label? I don't think so! See: the Tea Party Express, the Tea Party caucus and so forth. Taxed Enough Already is their slogan.
My hubby said the TEA party is not an organized party where they can collect money, etc. It's probably a scam to get people's CC numbers and then use them to make illegal purchases.
I'll see now if I really do get a letter explaining it. He wanted me to make a pledge of 100 dollars. He finally said 35 when I didn't agree.
a tea party does not exist, but tea partiers do exist. they are just called conservative republicans, not moderates that the current slate of politicians that are in washington now.
