Violence is decreasing anyway, regardless of guns. It comes and goes in waves.
But to those who want to attribute that to guns, do you really think people who only don't commit violent crimes because of the potential risk are a good long-term basis for a healthy society? They will continue to be criminals in their minds and sooner or later it will show in one way or another...
The only way to change that is by profoundly changing society, its priorities and values, the roles people feel they have in society, etc.
Nobody mentions that the reason gun crimes go down is because the economy is better. Besides if you own a gun you are more likely to use it against somebody you know than some random criminal trying to rob you.
Then why are they not praising obama for such a great job.....I mean really...if it looks good for him, that should be the head lines on every news channel.
Because other news networks wouldn't run something so completely distorted as fox, not to mention other with different political views besides the far right don't want to hear twisted facts.. You can do a fox news type spin and say "Crime has been going down considerably since Obama came into office!" "See, Obama made the crime rate go down!" which is technically true, but not directly because of him. Hell you could spin it into saying "The murder rate has been going down since the packers won the super bowl!" If everyone was a packers fan, then the crime would go down even lower!
Crime plummeting on obamas watch actually reflects positively on him. Pretty much all crime is down, not just violent crime. There has been a lot of relaxing of gun laws during his term, many times fully supported by him like the right to carry in national parks
Crime has been going down since the early 1990s. Why? Abortion was legalized twenty years prior. Many of the future criminals of America were and are being aborted. This is discussed in the Steven Levitt (an apolitical mathematician) book "Freakonomics". It is just a hard political pill to swallow on both sides of the aile for obvious reasons.
I guess you should ask the Obama administration as to whether providing automatic weapons to Mexican drug cartels increases or decreases crime in Mexico, as they have a nice experiment going on there. In contrast, it appears as though allowing law abiding American citizens access to guns reduces crime. Funny how that works- criminals commit more crimes with better weapons and law abiding citizens reduce crime with better weapons.

Why should they? Low crime rates look good on presidents and high ones look bad. It is common sense if you asked me.

Or we could say, the left was wrong with their thinking that "bad" thing's would happen if these laws were revoked.
But those other news networks would not want to go against each other, now would they...
Then by your own admission (since low crime rates looks good on a president), why would those other news companies not be talking about it?
Why should they be taking about it? Free media report news that sell. I knew the crime rate has been going down, but why you expect the media to keep reporting it is beyond me. Statistics like that make the news once a year. Who wants to hear the same stats every day? Not me.
