I have had people (of various racial backgrounds) use other derogatory words for other racial/ethnic/religious groups in my presence and thinking that it was "ok" because said group was not present, get a full ondressing-down from me. No, it's not "ok".
The speaker is just ignorant and jealous of a black man who has accomplished more in his life than he ever will. I'm so sick to death of all the race-slinging.
I don't allow anyone in my life to use it in my presence EVER, no matter their color/race/ethnicity
Oh, we've seen over the years blacks calling blacks the N-word. On the view the other day, it was stated it would be fine for Whoopie to use the word, but off limits for Babs.

So because SOME black people feel this way ALL black people feel this way?
Obama is half black, therefore he has the right to call himself "African American". Even if he wasn't the descendant of slaves, he has African ancestry.
Since science has traced everyone's mitochondrial DNA back to Africa we all have the right to be called African-American's if we so desire...
So since obama is half white can he call himself Irish-American too?
Or better yet let's end this and just call him a Black-White African-Irish-American...
Hmmm I wonder why no one told him slavery ended 400 years ago; its time for a new analogy
Welcome to the year 2265 everyone! You've all been asleep! Really, slavery was not that long ago, and it's effects are still being felt today. There are socio-economic reasons why many blacks are still behind in this country, and in other countries, and they mainly stem from slavery. I don't condone this mans vocabulary usage, but it is still a fact. Back up and look at the human timeline from any sort of a distance and you will see that oppression was yesterday.

I have more respect for my Black garbage man than I have for Obama.
